Same age as Vardy. Not a problem for me if he does the business.

Good lad...he is quality.
Mind you can see the Benteke benefits.
Some player there..confidence destroyed at the bindippers..for whatever reason.
Seem to remember a certain Julian Dicks having the same problem!

Top striker who we can trade on to the Kitchens in a couple of years or so at top money
No risk there and we can have Benteke or another alongside him, in fact I am sure we will

I'd have both vexed. Would be well happy with that.

Go on then, I'm on board this Bacca bandwagon. I'd still rather have Benteke though. Tin hat at the ready.

Deffo mate.
Watched him a fair few times for both AC and Sevilla before that..big fan of his.
Obviously delighted we've been linked..hope it happens!

I'm pretty sure Bacca would score more goals next season than our present strikers combined.

The bloke is 29 for fuck sake not 39.

Still a good 3/4 years at least if he looks after himself.

Athletes / professional sportsmen can go on longer these days.

"Indeed Trevor. I think as fans we should start living for the moment a bit more, expect to be entertained on a season by season basis and let the club worry about the financial and long term strategic side of things - that is their job"

Agree 100%

Bacca is 4 years younger than Defoe, who is still no slouch.

Indeed Trevor. I think as fans we should start living for the moment a bit more, expect to be entertained on a season by season basis and let the club worry about the financial and long term strategic side of things - that is their job.

Goes hand in hand with the idea that the financial implications of relegation are anyone's problems but the owners'. We have now seen with Wimbledon, that if there is a big enough fanbase, a phoenix club can rise and that the fans will be entertained along the way, so what does any of it matter as long as are entertained more often than we are not.

Indeed Rob, upsides and downsides with any signing really.

Re: Carlos Bacca
Plus when you sign a player at 23/24, you always run the risk that they will not fulfill their potential and thus have little resale value. Take David Bentley for instance.

The difference between signing a younger player who flops and an older player who you get two/three good seasons out of, is that whilst neither will give you resale value, at least with the older player you have had those two or three good seasons.

I think this would be a great signing

Re: Carlos Bacca
£20m for two/three good seasons isn't a bad investment at all. There is far more money than there is talent and sides will start to clock that as the transfer window goes on.

The future is the next 10 games in football and with the money in the Premier League now, looking too much beyond a season at the expense of that season is very unwise. So whilst I am up for bringing through young talent, we should be looking to do that through the youths, and signings like Toni Martinez. We should be spending the bulk of our cash on proven class that will do it almost immediately.

Re: Carlos Bacca
exactly. much like the payet deal, if bacca was 24/25 he would be going for a lot more. milan paid about 23/24m for him i believe, which was his buyout clause.

Josh 4:29 Wed Jun 1

That is what edges me towards this deal. Payet's best years are going to be similar so strike now, I guess.

And he is not supposed to be on that massive a wage so if we save 15m and some wages as compared to a younger signing who has scored a similar number of goals, might be worth it.

Still prefer someone younger, but can see a logic to it and would not be displeased at all.
